View Full Version : What domain names would you like to own?
This is funny because there are so many domains out there that people would love to own but can't because they are worth so much or taken in which the owner would not sell. I know I want a bunch of them.
I want news.com , bank.com, nba.com( I love basketball ).
Anymore?

Yeah, a specific mmorpg would be pretty cool too. One I've played would be even better. Maybe wow.com, ac.com, ao.com.
Mmmm, that'd be nice :)
wow is amazing. wow.com is probably worth a million dollars. Not too sure what you could make out of it. Maybe a site with a lot of WOW situations. Would be pretty cool to own though.
How about math.com? I know the owner of that. That must get millions of type-in's.

Expressions like that are nice because you could use them for an online store, or something similar. Anything that could be added afterwards.
"WOW DOMAINS"
"WOW BOOKS"
"WOW VIDEOS"
You get the picture.

Absolutely. I knew it was a great domain once you said it. I would love to have it, but the chances are pretty slim since World of Warcraft has it now and they are very popular. I wonder how much they paid for it since someone must have had it before them.

Were the names actually copyrighted? It's very hard to get a name copyrighted, unless it's of some importance (for example, Bugs Bunny is also the name of the cartoon). I would highly imagine they were not copyrighted, especially if they were actually buying them.
As to being obligated to give you the reg fee, no. YOU are obligated to hand it over (for nothing) and walk away. If they own the copyright, they owe you nothing. eBay forces you to let the domain expire. They let you keep it, but it cannot be used for anything. On the other hand, iTunes.co.uk, which came out PRIOR to Apple's MP3 phenomenon was forced to just hand over the domain.

well, it's a crutch to think the right name will get a bonzai jakcpot at your door. That may happen to a few, but it's like being addicted to gambling to think it will happen, just because you ahve the name. I have seen the problems that come along with having a big name. Companies don't want to work with you, people try to subvert your position because they think you are dependent on them to sell your brand.

my point exactly. a few people. i asked a man a few years ago whose wife had inherited over 60 million dollars about playing the stock market. he said you might as well gamble, and I figured he had the cash and experience to know. So by that reasoning, you might compare two people starting out at x point with so much money, one goes the domaining route and the other online gambling. and after so long, see where they both are at.
I hope he did something with it... if he still owns it, it looks like an ok site, but does he really make a decent ammount of cash off it?

You begin to run into the problem of a domain being too vague. It would be great for an online version of Business magazine, advertising, marketing, ect, but for some business to actually own business.com, it doesn't seem that helpful. It would be like Modulus owning Stuff.com for this, a little too general.

Yeah but Stuff.com could be used for ANYTHING. Whether it is a domain forum or a video game's website.
