How much would the value of a domain drop if you added HQ to it do you think?

Like, _____hq.com or _____hq.net? Or would it highly depend on the word it was being added to?

I think it would highly DEPEND. take sitehq.com.
hosting, domain and portfolio for years. two registrars connected.i think it has been monetised but i am not sure how much for. is site.com as specific? it could be anything. that's good and that's bad. Hard to be all things to all people on the net. i think in these days of content mgmnt it would add value.

I don't think it's all that great. I mean, you won't be able to register a few domains with hq at the end and quickly sell them. It may be brandable depending on what's in front of hq.

or use the hq as a way to transit the main word into a directory. anyone looking to make a quick buck in domain name reseeling these days has so many people pacing them that's hard too.

HQ would equal Headquarters I would imagine. I usually use HQ on the end of a fansite. IE. ZeldaHQ.com. It is good if you develop them. If you just have HQ.com than your plenty rich. ;)

Yeah, that's what I was thinking about JJ. Something similar I mean. I don't know though, not sure if I'll be able to develop it.

Anyone can develop anything. Just put the right content on it. If you can't design a template, there are always people out there to do it for you.

JJ i only asked about the sites you keep talking about. if you haven't developed them, your comments about development lack some weight don't they?

I have developed sites such as...

FourStarsCasino.com ( no longer up )
RealDN.com

I have also helped numerous people develop there sites.

MyMob.com
TeenageHangout.com

Content of which I created is on there.

Just to name a few.

I would still say a HQ at the end fits with the military understanding of a hub or portal. Unless it were a product,
e.g. soaphq.com for all kinds of soaps, etc.

Was the casino site a real betting site, or something else? I was working on a project with someone about making a poker site, but ran out of ideas on how to implement it.

sjaguar isn't it complicated to get licences and hook up the bank accounts and stuff for that?

Well the problem is you need at a HUGE bankroll to start with. All gambling services online are taken care of overseas, since there are illegal in the USA. I believe there are a bunch of high quality licenses online but are very expensive.

HQ is a good addon, yes it does make it sound like a site is related to the army, etc. but that's not the point, most people will be able to tell the difference between a resource HQ and a government/army based HQ simply by the first word mentioned in the domain, common sense I guess. Just like DB.

Not sure if that makes sense, but I hope you understand my point :D

It's a very good point, and I agree. I believe if one hopes to build value in such a domain, it's required to put some time in to value add the information to gain a sizeable amount of return on the sale price.
so, it's not a gimme. You have to work to package the sale.

That's basically what I wanted to know :D

I wasn't sure how many people would realize what "HQ" was.
