I think most of you collected tons of domains for yourselves or for sale.
Would u like to show me all the domains u owned?
I am just curious and want to have a look.

It's your show time, the crazy domain monopolizers:D

It must cost tons of $ every year.

i tried to access http://www.securepaynet.net/ , but it redirects me to 'Sorry, the page you requested does not exist'

It's a lot of work, not only keeping the list current but catching the expirations.

hellboy911
11-05-2005, 05:36 PM
i can understand that, maybe you should write all domains down + experations on a automatic php list or something ?

I got about 40 domains now, and I am of normal posture :D So I'm not the biggest.

I don't think it matters how "many" you have but the quality of them. If you have 1000 so so domains against 100 awesome ones. The 100 would outprice the 1000.

Yeah, if someone has 100 dot coms and you have 1000, but all your's end in .be, you are still a loser.

Agreed, quality over quantity.

*Edit*

I believe it is quality and quanity in this game. If you only have 10 domains worth like $10,000 great. But what happen if the market for those domains dry up? Then the person who's porfolio is large and vast, Then 1000 decent names becomes 990 decent names and 10 good names. Since the market for those domains are so great.

Apsylum

You sell them when they're worth 10k :D

Yeah, I spread the board with my names. Get a little of everything so that you always have something trendy....and typos. They are always good.

I would rather have a shorter list of names developed. I don't have to worry about losing any, etc. I want to keep great control of any good domains I own.

With most registrars, you get an insane amount of emails when the expire date begins. I am getting emails now for domains that expire in January. I think it's fairly hard to be an active internet user and forget to renew a domain.

Yeah but 1000? That is 1000 domains to be renewed. There must be a bulk renew feature at most registrars.

There is. I never lost a domain, unless I want to let it go (which only ever happened to 1 domain).

Looks like myst is the clear winner. Too many, great list. I only have a couple dozen...

and I only have around 5-8 :( always looking to expand ;)

-JJ-

I don't know if I would want to own thousands of domains. That's too much responsibility and I wouldn't have the time. I would want less domains, more quality.

I'd be scared that more than one would drop out on me. :\

It's just too much of a hassle to keep track of.

It actually isn't. Register 1000 and and find out for yourself. Plus, after you set up the nameservers, you usually don't have to do anything with the domains, and with bulk hosting scripts, you can do whatever you want with the site really quick and easy.

I am skeptical when it comes to the Internet. It's just not as safe as you want it to be. I'm sure if I registered via a reputable registrar I'd be safe though.

I think one of the larger registars would be fine, but I wouldn't trust the domains with a small company...

sjaguar13
11-08-2005, 07:00 PM
So you don't want a lot of domains because "it's just too much of a hassle to keep track of" but you'd be safe with a "reputable registrar".....the domains you currently own were registered with a fly-by-night registrar?

Apsylum
11-08-2005, 07:01 PM
I think you wouldn't have to worry about them as much, less checkup and you could be sure they aren't going to just "disapear"

mystwoman

there are programs that track the expiry for you.

Gayble
11-09-2005, 05:50 PM
All you have to do is input the domain that you're wanting to know the expiry date of and it lets you know and before the day, it pops up an alert message to let you know, pretty convenient :)
